Board Book Revisited

On Friday, my Creative SiStar Cindy offered the first of her annual series of monthly circles, which focus on deepening with our Word of the Year. (I've now made a THIRD 'Word of the Year' card for 2026 - oy! They need to chat!!)

Each month's project with Cindy will include crafting a SoulCollage®️ card, plus another activity. During our first session we began making 12 mixed media cards, each of which will have our Word and a second that supports us in our intention for 2026, and helps keep our word fresh.

2025 card and new batch
I decided to use the board book I picked up earlier in the month, and will add several little pockets, to hold the support cards. I love making round cards, like those I used to track my prerequisites.
In this free tutorial Drew Steinbrecker offers idea for collaging kid's books! I watched it a couple of times now, and also got a gel plate, to experiment with, once my facilitator training is complete!
Cards and Board Book

I've made three pockets, and will paste them throughout the journal, to hold the smaller cards, plus prompts, poems...

Envelopes come in many sizes, shapes and papers, and make great pockets! Junk mail is another option - especially flyers and envelops with windows ....

My creative pal Linda Allen often creates pocket spreads in her Cosmic Smashbooks, the colorful tape adds a practical accent. I'm curious to see if some tape will show up on my pages...

Linda glued a manilla envelope in the back of all one journal for a year long class, to hold larger cards and ephemera.

I'll keep you posted on process with my Word of the Year book and round cards!

Morning friendly Space

In a recent podcast , Feng Shui maven Amanda Gibby Peters offers ways to set ourselves up for success in our endeavors by setting routines and areas that support them. Amanda often shares tips for boosting our homes positive energy - these are simple to implement - and you may already i n place!  Early in the year, many folks reevaluate what's working and what we'd like to improve and achieve in the year ahead. Our surroundings can support implementing these intentions.  Vision board -2025 Put your home to bed . I've written before,  that 'tidy folks' often take 'walk throughs' several times a day - putting things away, disposing trash, and tending little things that need doing. Doing the last walk through before bed helps set space for the day ahead, and streamline morning routines. Optimize your bedroom . Is it a dumping ground for extra things? Do you have a system for clothes that can be reworn? ( The 'floor-drobe' isn't the best option!)  ...

What is Soul Collage?

A day or so ago, my daughter asked, 'what is Soul Collage?' ... here's the elevator pitch: Soul Collage cards combine several images, usually from magazines and calendars, assembled and glued onto a card baking. We usually don't include words on the cards, inviting the image to inform is.  The size is either 5×7" or 5x8" - large enough for several images, small enough to work with easily.  When a card is finished, the creator uses several journal prompts to "meet" the cards, and to receive information and insights from the images we've chosen.  The cards represent different aspects of ourselves and of the community around us.  After making several cards, we can use them as we might any oracle deck, consulting or own inner wisdom. We can use them for daily inspiration, or random 'readings.' We can journal more when a card comes up ... In Soul Collage Evolving, founder Seena Frost writes, " The process of selecting images and maki...

Today my friends Donna and Marvin invited me to join then on an road trip adventure, and we headed North to Hood River and the Harvest Fest! An Abundance of Produce It was a blustery, rainy day, but Multnomah falls was beautiful as always, and the weather cleared 'just in time' when we arrived in Hood River and the fest!  Rainy day - Columbia River  We had fun wandering, chatting, eating (I had a gluten free enchilada and corn on the cob, Donna had a braut with saurkraut and potato salad) and visiting.  There were many great vendors, and delightful mini conversations!  Business Card blessing And - so many smiles were exchanged!  They cost nothing, and are so appreciated!  More than once, we heard, " you made my day !"
