In September, I received a surprise package of Soul Collage materials in the mail, and I was so HAPPY! I had recently joined the KaleidoSoul community, and my name was chosen for a goodie packs! Mine included collage images, mat board, and a travel bag for cards.
Around the same time, my friend Valerie sent me a collection of SoulCollage® CDs, as she's been clearing physical stuff! This was a treat for both of us (& I paid the postage)
This summer our pastor put out a call for art, which was then printed on postcards. Congregants received a couple of cards, and were invited to write one during the service.
Our summer theme was letters to the early churches, usually encouragement - and offered inspiration. Each Sunday, someone would share a story of Mail they'd received - a special letter, a stack of correspondence from college, ...
You're invited to think of a couple of people who'd enjoy receiving some Happy Mail, and create something for them!
✨ Write a note, a letter, a postcard, do a doodle, ..
Look for cards from local artists, or go mining in your stash of cards (you know you have some!). You can do a collage, or take a page from an adult coloring book ... be sure to get some stamps!
Have you received Happy Mail?
Who in your life would enjoy finding a happy surprise in their mailbox?
What a lovely initiative! In today's fast-paced, electronic world it's especially nice if people take the time to write a heartfelt note or card.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice, isn't it?
DeleteMy cousin Susan and I exchanged letters in our teens/ early 20s, and sporadically later... we would laugh as our handwriting was so exchanged - my mom would say, 'a good Palmer hand' (the cursive style)
It's a lovely idea! I'm not sure who in my life would enjoy getting mail from me. I used to have friends who exchanged letters with me, and back then any of us would have enjoyed happy mail. But it isn't the same now, or not for us, anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo true - I do have a few I think would enjoy it - especially cousins Merlyn and Anne, who are in their 90s!
DeleteI need to go to the campus Post office, and get stamps/ mail the cards I've written!
And send one to my college roommate - she only lives an hour away, but we've not been touch for too long!

How exciting to receive a surprise goodie pack, those are the best kinds of mail! I love your doodle cards especially the clouds. I have a few friends in mind that would be so surprise, I need to start working on some.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Neurographica is such a fun practice!!
DeleteThe bottom cards are from our church postcard project - Aren't JoAnne Sims' clouds lovely?
She works in oils, and lives on a hill - so paints from her daily view! (And the original is a large painting
I love Linette Studebaker's Moths as well - her mediums are watercolor, gouache and oil pastels
I like those handmade cards, as they look more personal, and my mom certainly would love to receive a happy surprise in her mailbox.
ReplyDeleteThey do, don't they?
DeleteMy mom ALWAYS enjoyed getting mail!
