Animal energies - Companion Suit

The description of the SoulCollage®  Companion Suit on the KaleidoSoul website reads in part: 'these cards represent the energetic dimensions of our lives. This fascinating suit encompasses two different kinds of energies:

  • Animal energies
  • Chakra (body) energies

'You can think of your Animal Totems as imaginary guides on your life journey. You might also think of them as Power Animals because each one imparts a special energy/power to your life.'

For this suit, we discover our Companion Neters through guided visualization. 'The Neters* of the Companion suit are mirrors for the energies of your physical and subtle bodies, their flow, their blockages, and their changing ability to help and heal...  or to hinder and hurt.' Glenda Goodrich.

Animals may also show up in Dreams, meditation or encounters, and cards made honoring them me added to this suit. I've received dream teachings on Flower companions, and may include a few flower cards.

Spirit Horse- 4th/ heart Chakra

Before embarking on the facilitator training, we are asked to craft cards from each of the four suits, including at least 2 animal Companion cards. In the summer, SiStar facilitator Susan Conrad Risse led out Red Thread Creatives group in making a Companion card.

More recently, I listened to the meditation from Seena on the Introduction to Soul Collage CD. I identified horse for the heart center, then put on some background music while I crafted the Spirit Horse card.

One song in the set intrigued me, and I put it on repeat.  Then I noticed it had captions - Herr Mannelig (the proposal of a Troll maiden to a young man - sung in Old Norse!) ... one of her proposed gifts is 'Pér vil ek gefa pá gangar a tolf' - 'to thee I will give those twelve HORSES'!! (You can't make this stuff up!!)

  • I am one who - has a direct steady gaze
  • " " "  stands / sits tall
  • " " " dances to the music of the heavens
  • My gift to you is - awareness of your inner compass
  • A symbol to help you remember isA horsehair charm (which I can make with my granddaughter Emily!)

In the early '90s, I took a workshop with indigenous doctor/ healer Lewis Mehl-Madrona. The focus was on re-integrating indigenous wisdom into our healing practices. In addition to making prayer ties and holding a sweat lodge, Lewis led  us on a visioning journey, to discover Chakra totem animals.

Horse, dolphin and turtle were three of the animals i received during that journey - (I know I have those notes *somewhere*!)  Lewis then had us sketch the animals and write about their gifts following our journey, then partner up and share.

The animals in the Companion suit can be 'real' or legendary - like the Phoenix on my Courage card. Some messages from Phoenix:

  • The message I have for you about standing strong is: find your fire and rise from the ashes
  • What I want to show you about how your Courage is sometimes blocked: when you forget the alchemy of change

I can ask the Phoenix for more insights each time this card comes up in a reading, and add those to my journal notes. In the image, the Phoenix' heart is behind the girl's heart - and 'Cor' is French for heart - which is  part of the word courage!

Phoenix Rises - Courage
As you choose images, be open to both animals you already feel connected to, and receptive to surprises! Like other cards, you may find animals showing up and wanting to be included on cards in other suits.

Neter (rhymes with better- but just one t) is an old Egyptian word for energy, presence, ally, guide or challenger. The 'shadow' of its energy can be expressing too much - or too little - of the quality.

Do you have a sense of any animal guides?
Have you had a meaningful experience work an Animal?

  1. I have never used these, but I have used/use Angel Oracle cards. Today, I drew the Law of Attraction card an it has a beautiful illustration of an Angel holding a young fawn, with other animals around her.

Growing up, we had many pets through my childhood. I beleive they enhance our lives. We even had a.... HORSE!

    Thanks for sharing.
    Paul.

    1. What a great card to draw today, Paul! Image is such a good way to connect with feelings and inner wisdom. I love those on the decks by angel guide Kyle Gray, who works with some lovely artists.
And I love your post, with its mention of oracle cards - very synchronous!
And horse! Our neighbors had a dairy and I got to ride their ponies - joy!!

Morning friendly Space

In a recent podcast , Feng Shui maven Amanda Gibby Peters offers ways to set ourselves up for success in our endeavors by setting routines and areas that support them. Amanda often shares tips for boosting our homes positive energy - these are simple to implement - and you may already i n place!  Early in the year, many folks reevaluate what's working and what we'd like to improve and achieve in the year ahead. Our surroundings can support implementing these intentions.  Vision board -2025 Put your home to bed . I've written before,  that 'tidy folks' often take 'walk throughs' several times a day - putting things away, disposing trash, and tending little things that need doing. Doing the last walk through before bed helps set space for the day ahead, and streamline morning routines. Optimize your bedroom . Is it a dumping ground for extra things? Do you have a system for clothes that can be reworn? ( The 'floor-drobe' isn't the best option!)  ...

Reset - Red Thread Circle

As a group of us prepare  to sift stagnant energy in  our homes, you're invited to set your intention for your space and a bit of Reset.  In our Intentional art community, we set intention in a Red Thread ceremony.  This is  a way to connect as a respectful, mutually supportive group, and begin to inter-weave the threads of our stories.  Red Thread circle The Red Thread has a profound capacity for connecting hearts and minds around what matters. When we face a challenge, we "tug on the Red Thread" as a reminder we aren't alone, and may tap into this web of support. Participants are invited to gather Red Thread, embroidery floss or ribbon, journal, and pour a cup of tea as we begin.    Can you imagine your space as a living Altar?  What is your intention for this cycle? What old stories do you tell yourself about your home? How will you reward your progress? What's your first action step? Take some time to journal on any of these inquir...

What is Soul Collage?

A day or so ago, my daughter asked, 'what is Soul Collage?' ... here's the elevator pitch: Soul Collage cards combine several images, usually from magazines and calendars, assembled and glued onto a card baking. We usually don't include words on the cards, inviting the image to inform is.  The size is either 5×7" or 5x8" - large enough for several images, small enough to work with easily.  When a card is finished, the creator uses several journal prompts to "meet" the cards, and to receive information and insights from the images we've chosen.  The cards represent different aspects of ourselves and of the community around us.  After making several cards, we can use them as we might any oracle deck, consulting or own inner wisdom. We can use them for daily inspiration, or random 'readings.' We can journal more when a card comes up ... In Soul Collage Evolving, founder Seena Frost writes, " The process of selecting images and maki...
